There are two wireless networks on campus, "eduroam" and "Malone-Guest." The first time a computer connects to wireless, it is required to be registered either as a guest or as belonging to a Malone student, faculty, or staff member.

To maximize your connection speed and avoid having to re-register each day, register your devices (primarily smartphones, tablets, and laptops) to the eduroam network.

Students, Faculty, and Staff should use 'eduroam'
The 'eduroam' network is intended for the students, faculty, and staff of the University. The network has WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1X Authentication security on it and you're register using your entire Malone email address and your Malone password. When you sign into the 'eduroam' network, be sure to use your full email address as your username.

What is 'eduroam'?
Eduroam is a global wireless network access service for research and education. It is federated across thousands of organizations across more than a hundred countries!

Essentially any institution that offers eduroam as a wireless network to connect to, you can use your Malone credentials to gain access. Visitors who have the eduroam WiFi network from another school should be able to connect to eduroam here at Malone. Click the eduroam signal to connect and your credentials will be automatically verified by your school, giving you full access to WiFi here at Malone.

Additional smart devices and visitors should use 'Malone-Guest'
Malone-Guest is meant for visitors to the University. Visitors must register with their name and a valid email address. Once registered, visitors will have access to the web and email. Devices will diconnect after 5 days, so, devices will need to be re-registered once it expires.

If you have additional devices, such as a Chromecast or an Amazon Echo, you will want to use the 'Malone-Guest' network. Devices such as these may need some additional steps to get connected. These will need to be registered to your user account. See FAQ 374 for more details.
